Welcome to our first edition of Sheilas for 2013!
A special nod for this edition must go to Australian of the Year Ita Buttrose, who agreed to be our first ‘Bonza Sheila‘ for the year, another ‘accolade’ she can add to her long awards’ list.
Also in this February edition are two very different feature pieces, yet both are written by contributors ‘on the ground’, who can speak from personal experience. Catherine Scott and Stephen Dinham respond to critics of the teaching profession, while Maribel Steel provides us with insight into living with vision impairment.
This edition also includes:
- Our much-loved resident cartoonist Judy Horacek with her latest artwork for Sheilas,
- Elisabeth Morgan provides a fab review of Silver Linings Playbook for Culture Club,
- Keeping it Reel links readers to the One Billion Rising movement, and,
- ‘Polly Ticks‘ looks at the surprise announcement of the federal election date.
Check it all out.
We’re also excited that we now have a Sheilas specific Facebook page and would dearly appreciate readers ‘Liking Us’ – check it out here.
Thanks for reading and we look forward to a big year of Sheilas!
