This image was taken by photographer  Pippa Dodds, at the 2012 performance Collisions by the Delta Project – a Melbourne dance theatre company built of Deaf and hearing dancers.

Pippa Dodds studied a degree in commercial photography at RMIT in Melbourne, Australia. She has just embarked on an international project documenting dance and ritual. Find more info on the project’s blog, and view Pippa’s website here.

The photo subject is Anna Seymour. Anna studied contemporary dance at Deakin University and has since worked for various companies and choreographers including Polyglot, La Mama, and Strange Fruit. In 2012 she co-founded the Delta Project with Jo Dunbar and was one of the lead dancers in Collisions. Anna also performed in the award-winning “Sounds of Silence” dance piece combining hip hop, contemporary and storytelling at the 2008 Melbourne Fringe Festival with dance troupe  ‘Deaf Can Dance’ – a group Anna played an instrumental role in establishing.
