Hanging onto Hope

22 / 08 / 2013

This photo was taken at the Equal Love rally for marriage equality in Melbourne on Saturday 18 August, 2013, in the midst of the federal election campaign.

The photo is of Alicia Webb, who made a Barack Obama ‘Hope’ spin-off poster to instead feature South Australian Senator Penny Wong – a vocal supporter of marriage equality in the Australian Labor Party. Alicia tells Sheilas that she made the poster because she thinks “Penny Wong is one of the rare politicians we can feel proud of”. Thanks for letting us use this image, Alicia! And for maintaining HOPE! Very important, in any campaign.

For more information (including the next rally details) check out the Equal Love website.

And for coverage on last Saturday’s rally, see Farrah Tomazin and John Elder’s piece in the Sunday Age.
